Please be advised that I will not be taking on any new clients until summer 2010
In recent years, psychotherapy and counselling is increasingly recognised to be of lasting benefit. It can offer a safe, private place to talk about personal problems and the stresses of modern living, including:
- Relationship issues - Stress - Depression - Anxiety - Sexuality - Issues from Childhood - Motherhood/Fatherhood - Loss and Bereavement
You don't have to be in crisis to benefit, as it can also assist you with:
- Spiritual growth and self knowledge - Expanding your choices - Resolving inner conflicts - Finding direction and identity

My approach
I am an integrative, relational therapist:
'Integrative' means I work within my own framework, integrating different but complementary strands of therapy from psychodynamic and humanistic traditions, in particular TA. I integrate main approaches because I believe that one size does not fit all. We are individuals and what may suit one person may not suit another.
'Relational' means I aim to meet your relational needs. For example, sometimes you may need help with acting on a problem; at other times, to talk about your feelings. It also means I am interested in all your relationships, past and present.
Ethics
I operate my practice along with lines of an equal opportunities employer; aiming to be sensitive and aware of your cultural and ethnic origins, and to your religious beliefs and sexual orientation.
How can therapy help you?
I aim to help you gain a perspective about whatever is concerning you. Together we identify what may be preventing you reach your potential.
I am trained to look beyond presenting problems to possible underlying causes. This is to help you understand and accept yourself; to change your behaviour to something better for you, and to help you move towards becoming the kind of person you want to be.
(words inspired by therapist Stephen Palmer, 2005)
Location
I work from St John St in Lewes, East Sussex (see map); a four-minute walk from the train and bus station. In the evenings, I have some space in Southover High Street, also about a four-minute walk from the train station (in the other direction). There are car parks near to both locations.
Initial session
I want you to find the right therapist, and offer you an initial assessment (£20) to explore what brings you to therapy, and to get a taste of working with me. We can then decide if you would like to continue further.
